Old Book Pages
After looking through the mags lately I have discovered loads of LOs popping up using old book pages and old kids book (think golden books) pages. I love the effect and wanted to give it a try myself.
I was walking past a second hand shop and spied some old books for 20c each! bargain, I hunted through for a book that was aged really well so I didn't have to work too had on distressing.
And then all you need to is treat it like patterned paper, here are a couple of examples of what I have completed
This layout here I used the papers in 2 places, first I distressed the edges a little more by tearing them, folding them and swiping them with Pine Cone ink, then attached them like I would with patterned paper behind my photos.
Then I used my Circle Punches and punched out some of the paper stapled them together and started 'fringing' the circles, once fringed I scrunched them so it looked like a flower, swiped more pine cone ink on the edges and then attached them to my layout with a button in the center
On this layout here I again used the book page behind the photo and stapled a corner down
and using my punches again I punched out some more circles and attached them to the layout as an embellishment with some Kaiser Pearls (how good are they!!!)
And on this last layout I wanted to keep it simple so I cut out a thinner strip of the book paper (about an inch wide) inked the edges again using pine cone and tore a little of one side of the strip, then gathered it along one side of the strip and attached it together using a staple, this turned it into a flower, I know, flowers on a boys page, but truly it can work! especially in this instance as it isn't a uniformed flower shape.
So there you go, a very inexpensive way to add some interest to your layouts, the possibilities are endless!

Re: Old Book Pages
wow thanks for those great hints...i have some books that are just falling apart from use and way past trying to put them together again..
the trouble with scrapping is you just dont throw anything out...so the stash just keeps getting bigger with stuff "i might need one day"!!

Re: Old Book Pages
Hey Anthea,
I have done similar flowers like this before, they are super fun. Another thing to do with them is to punch flowers out with your punches and layer some other flowers on top it looks great.
